    Hi Simon,

Great blog. Thanks for sharing your CEO musings. Its great to get a CEO’s perspective on things from time to time.

I was wondering if your up for a link exchange via the blog roll. I blog on using IT to drive efficiencies in a business. I look at this purely from the business end. No coding talk here!

Let me know if your interested.

    Hi Simon

My name is Alan Bolton. I have been ‘Working for the Man’ all my life and was recently retrenched from my job. I now work in a job that gives me absolutely no reward and i aspire to start my own business.

I have come accross a product that is just about to be launched in the UK in July and the USA in September 09. I beleive this product (technology related) would appeal to the Australian Market.

I sent through a request to the company that own and distribute this product in the UK to see if there was the oppurtunity to distribute this in Australia.

To my surprise, a JV distribution document was sent to me with the intention to establish a Joint Venture partner in Australia to import and Distribute the product in 2010.

They have requested a business plan and ‘Go to Market’ strategy. The distributor in Australia would be responsible for Marketing, Sales, Packaging, Customer Care, Negotiations with Retailers etc.

I have a few questions and beleive your opinion (with your extensive experience) would be invaluable:

Business Plan & Go-to Market Strategy

Do i commence negotiations with Retailers?
How do I go about the research?
Do i need to set up the whole company (business) before i submit the business plan?
how would i structure the Bus. Plan & Strategy?
Do i have the oputunity to negotiate the JV partnership (they are requesting a 70:30 split in their favour)?

I am pretty keen on tackling this venture and would appreciate your advise.

    Thank You

    Alan Bolton
